Add content items to CMS blocks

This document describes how to add content items to CMS blocks using the Back Office.

Prerequisites

Add content items to a block

  1. Go to Content > Blocks.
  2. On the Overview of CMS Blocks page, next to the block you want to add the content items to click Edit Placeholder.
  3. On the Edit Block Glossary: {Block ID} page, click the tab of the placeholder you want to add the content items to.
  4. Click the locale you want to add the content item to.
  5. In the WYSIWYG editor, place your cursor where you want to insert the content item.
  6. In the editor toolbar, click Content Item and select the content item type you want to add.

The Insert a Content Item pop-up window opens.

  1. Select a content item and its template, and click Insert. This closes the pop-up window. The selected content item is displayed as a widget in the editor. Widget UI element

  2. Optional: Add the content item to other placeholders or locales.

  3. Optional: Add other content items to needed placeholders and locales.

  4. Click Save. The page refreshes with a success message displayed.

Tips and tricks

To edit a content item widget, select the widget and click Edit Widget.

Content item widget template defines how a content item looks on the Storefront. The following templates are available by default. If you need a different template, a developer can create it by following HowTo: Create a content item widget template.

Displays a title and a subtitle of the banner at the bottom of the image. Clicking any element of the banner will redirect your shop visitors to the target page.

For B2B:

Displays a title and a subtitle of the banner, and the Shop Now button at the bottom of the image.

For B2B:

Abstract product list content item widget template: Bottom title

Displays a product name under the product image. Each product contains an image, a Product Group (if it exists), a name, and a price. Clicking any of the product elements will redirect your shop visitors to the product detail page.

For White Label:

There is a clickable View button under the product price.

Displays products where each of them contains an image, a product name, a Product Group (if it exists), a price, and a clickable Add to Cart button at the bottom. Clicking this button will add a product to cart. Clicking any of the product elements will redirect your shop visitors to the product detail page.

Displays abstract products without their Product Groups. Each product contains a product name, a price, and an image. Clicking any of the product elements will redirect your shop visitors to the product detail page.

Displays products as a slider on a store or a landing page. Clicking any of the product elements will redirect your shop visitors to the product detail page.

Product set content item widget template: Add all to cart button top

Shows an Add all to Cart button in the top right corner of the widget. Clicking Add all to Cart will add all product set items to the cart and redirect your customers to the Cart page. The Product Set content item widget includes a product set name, a general description, a slider with Product Set images, and products. Each product contains an image, a Product Group (if it exists), a name, a price, and a clickable Add to Cart button that will add this specific product to the cart and redirect you to the Cart page.

Each product contains an image, a Product Group (if it exists), a name, a price, and a clickable Add to Cart button that will add this specific product to the cart and redirect you to the Cart page.

Product set content item widget template: Product set for landing pages

Displays a banner of a Product Set on the top, a clickable Add all to Cart button in the middle and a set of products. Clicking Add all to Cart will add all product set items to the cart and redirect your customers to the Cart page. Each product contains an image, a Product Group (if it exists), a name, a price, and a clickable Add to Cart button. Clicking Add to Cart will add this product to the cart. All product set elements are clickable and will redirect your shop visitors to a PDP page of that specific product.

Displays a file name as a link your shop visitors can click to download a file.
