Editing content items in CMS pages and blocks

This topic provides a list of steps you can perform to edit content item widgets in the Back Office.

Prerequisites

To start editing content item widgets to pages, navigate to Content > Pages.

To start editing content item widgets to blocks, navigate to Content > Blocks.

Editing content item widgets in pages

To edit a content item widget:

1. On the Overview of CMS Pages page, in the Actions column, select Edit > Placeholders next to the block you want to add a content item widget to.
2. On the Edit Placeholders: [CMS Page Name] page, in the Placeholder tab editor, click a widget element.

3. In the pop-up menu, you can click:

   • Edit Widget. This will re-open the Insert a Content Item pop-up window where you can select another content item of the same type and/or another template.

   To have a different content item type, delete this one and add a new content item type.

   • Edit Content Item. This will open the Edit Content Item Type: [Content Item Key] page in a new tab where you can update content item elements.

   Keep in mind that after you changed only the content item name, you need to refresh the Edit Placeholders: [Page Name] page of the editor to reflect the changes.

   • Remove icon. This will delete the added content item widget.

4. To keep the updates, click Save.

Editing content item widgets in blocks

To edit a content item widget:

1. On the Overview of CMS Blocks page, in the Actions column, select Edit Placeholder next to the block you want to add a content item widget to.
2. On the Edit Block Glossary: [Block ID Name] page, in the Placeholder tab editor, click a widget element.

2. In the pop-up menu, you can click:

   • Edit Widget. This will re-open the Insert a Content Item pop-up window where you can select another content item of the same type and/or another template.

   To have a different content item type, delete this one and add a new content item type.

   • Edit Content Item. This will open the Edit Content Item Type: [Content Item Key] page in a new tab where you can update content item elements.

   Keep in mind that after you changed the content item name, you need to refresh the Edit Placeholders: [Page Name] page of the editor to reflect the changes.

   • Remove icon. This will delete the added content item widget.

3. To keep the updates, click Save.
